OptimalDX integration
An introduction to OptimalDx
The OptimalDX (ODX) platform is a blood chemistry analysis software used to identify dysfunction, track change, and guide patients to optimal health. By supporting the analysis, interpretation, and tracking of patient blood test results, this software tool accelerates practitioners’ ability to deliver insights into their patients’ health and generate intuitive, comprehensive Functional Health Reports.
OptimalDX is a lab testing company. Providers can order blood tests for their patients and analyze the results on this platform. The expected workflow is as such: after practitioners review lab results and corresponding supplement deficiencies in OptimalDX, they can recommend supplements via the Fullscript integration.
Integration setup: OptimalDX + Fullscript
The OptimalDX integration uses OAuth for setup and activation. Each user on the OptimalDX platform has their own unique account making this a one-to-one integration.
To set up the OptimalDX + Fullscript integration:
- In OptimalDX, click the user menu (top-right corner) then select Integrations.
- On the Integrations page, select the Platforms tab.
- Find the Fullscript card for your country (US or Canada) and select Enable Connection.
- In the oAuth modal, enter your Fullscript credentials (email and password).
- Click Authorize Application.
- After authentication, you will be directed to your integration detail page. Click Manage Connected Users.
- Match the ODX User to a Fullscript practitioner account. Multiple practitioners will appear if integrating with a multi-practitioner Fullscript dispensary.
- When finished, click Save. When matched successfully, a green Matched label will display in the status column.
Multi-practitioner dispensaries
The OptimalDX platform supports a single user per account. This means each OptimalDX instance can support a single provider. However, when integrating with a Fullscript dispensary with multiple practitioners, you can select your practitioner account from the list of active Fullscript practitioners, then submit your credentials to authorize and connect the accounts.
Writing a Fullscript treatment plan in OptimalDx
The OptimalDX integration is a custom integration that comes with pre-made groupings called Health Concerns that practitioners can use to find Fullscript supplements. The Health Concerns supplement suggestions were created in collaboration with Fullscript’s Integrative Medical Advisory Team (IMAT).
To create a Fullscript treatment plan:
- From the top navigation bar, hover over the Treatments tab and click Add New Treatment Plan.
- Step 1: Supplements.
You’ll be brought to the Choose source page, where you can recommend supplements through ODX’s default treatment plan or Fullscript’s treatment plan.
- Step 2: Patient.
Choose the patient who’ll receive the treatment plan. If there’s a matching account on Fullscript, it will say Matched. Otherwise, you can select the patient from your patient list or create a new Fullscript profile for them.
- Step 3: How will you build the treatment plan?
You can Review Health Concerns that match the results from the patient’s blood report or Skip to Selecting Products to search the catalog. - Step 3.1: Review Health Concerns.
You can select a blood test (organized by date) to review health concerns. You can then check off concern categories that you’d like pre-populated categories of suggested supplements for. Concerns are ranked by the probability of dysfunction (between 50 and 100%). You can also use the Add additional drop-down menu to include other health concerns.
- Step 4: Choose Supplements.
Choose Add Products to access the catalog and add products to address health concerns, or choose Auto-Populate Products to bring up the ODX+IMAT supplement suggestions by brand. Each product will show its association with each health concern and provide recommendations for other products below.
- Click Add Item to add a product to the treatment plan.
- After a product has been added, you can choose to edit the dosage instructions or delete the item by clicking the three horizontal dots in the top right corner of the product card.
- Click Review Treatment Plan when finished.
- Step 5: Review.
Next, review the supplements in the treatment plan and add a personal message recapping an appointment or providing more information.
- When finished, click Create treatment plan in Fullscript United States / Canada. This generates a draft treatment plan that isn’t sent to the patient.
- To send the recommendation to the patient, click Activate treatment plan in Fullscript United States / Canada.
